Living polymerization ( 2 is a type of chain growth polymerization wherein the chain transfer/chain termination steps do not occur. Instead, polymer chains are always growing, and growing at a near constant rate, leading to polymer chains that have approximately the same molecular weight. Living polymerization can be used with a variety of other polymerization methods, such as ionic, ring opening, or free radical polymerization and as such can produce a variety of polymers.
